China is near to develop a new jet engine which will power its fifth generation navy fighter aircraft of PLANF. The mass testing of new engine may began by next year.
The
J-31/FC-31 Fifth Generation will get a suitable engine to improve overall
performance as fifth generation aircraft. Judging from the current technical level the FC-31
"Yingying" is not likely to have patrol capability at present.
Previously, the FC-31 aircraft of China was rejected by PLAAF (People
Liberation Army Air Force) due to the technical felt of engine.
WS-19 engine in final phase of mass testing before installation in J-31 Naval Aircraft being developed by China
The
two WS19 turbofans engines will produce 24 tons of thrust to J-31 aircraft that
has an empty weight of about 14.5 tons, in terms of combat the Chinese sources has
claimed that the J-31 will house a good fine amount of armament. All the
specifications are comparable to the single engine US made F-35 Lightning II
naval variant that has 21 tons of thrust, empty weight of 15.7 tons with
various types of armaments.
Before
this, the J-31 was tested with Russian made RD-93 engine that fails to provide a
supersonic cruise making it an incomplete fifth generation aircraft, the hope
with new domestic engine for China are on peak because there are very small
difference in fourth generation and fifth generation without the supersonic
cruise speed.
Chinese naval Shenyang J-31 maiden flight at Zhuhai Air Show in 2014
At the 2018 Zhuhai Air
Show, the big Vector Engine has not only installed in the J-10B, but also a
quietly lying on the stand, proclaiming China's second stealth fighter J-31
will soon have a domestic turbofan engine. This engine is the Turbofan-19
Huangshan medium thrust engine that had only appeared in rumours in the past
two years. For large engine thrust are too large, wasteful money and poor
cost-effectiveness medium-sized double engine fighter. The installation of
medium sized twin engine are most efficient.
China Aviation
Industry Corporation had previously disclosed a vector engine with a maximum thrust
of 9800Kgf. This engine has considered by the outside world to be the WS-19
"Huangshan" engine matched with FC-31. This project has produced and
successfully completed the development of QC185, QC400, GT25000G military
ship-borne turbine shaft blades, WS18, WS19 turbofan-engine shaft blade
development, 624-AT project drones and other models to attack the mission.
Some military observers
revealed on the Internet that "TurboFan-19" is a long-rumored new
Chinese engine. It is similar to the name of "Taihang" and
"Emei", and the name of "TurboFan-19" is
"Huangshan". The target of the turbofan-19 is the F414 turbofan
engine, which is larger than the European EJ200 engine in terms of maximum
thrust.

At some Air shows in China a few years ago, another
unidentified medium-thrust engine appeared once with maximum afterburning
thrust was 9500kgf. In terms of appearance, this engine not only has a
structure similar to the Russian RD93. There are also similarities with the
European and American F404 and EJ200 engines. However, this engine appeared in
the air show, there is no follow-up related information to prove that it uses
the official model and name.
good job
