Russian new super aircraft Carrier will have S-500 System

The Russian super aircraft carrier Project 23000-Shtorm, Russian Navy plan to have in next decade, will be equipped with the S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile system.

The Shtorm is designed by Krylov State Research Centre to serve the northern fleet and will replace The Admiral Kuznetsov commissioned in 1991. The aircraft carrier will deck about 90 deck based aircrafts and will protected by four types of anti-aircraft missile system.

According Russian sources, the S-500 Prometheus is capable of hitting all existing types of aerodynamic and ballistic targets, detecting the latter at distances up to 800 kilometersThis will make the aircraft carrier invincible, since any attack will be suppressed before reaching it.

The displacement of the carrier will 90,000 to 1,00,000 ton with length about 330m will cruise at 25 to 30 knots. The aircraft carrier will be powered by either RITM-200 or RITM-400 with 4 propulsion system. 

Russia is also developing a second aircraft carrier, most likely a nuclear one.
